For our client, a global and independent company dedicated to working on challenges within the fields of water and environment and sustainability, we are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer.
We are currently seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to drive quality engineering and automated testing for an integrated water modelling and engineering platform.
You will:
- Own and drive the automation strategy for the software's desktop application testing
- Architect, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks from the ground up, ensuring long-term maintainability and extensibility
- Establish automation standards, best practices, coding guidelines, and quality engineering processes within the team
- Automate validation of water modelling workflows and scientific calculations to ensure accuracy and stability across releases
- Create and maintain regression test suites and test data sets
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Mentor and coach juniors, helping them develop technical skills, automation expertise, and quality engineering practices
- Contribute actively to QE Centre of Excellence by sharing best practices, reusable frameworks, lessons learned, and automation standards across product teams
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, domain experts, and quality engineers to identify quality risks and define test strategies
- Support release readiness activities through risk assessment, test analysis, and quality reporting
Your qualifications and personal skills
- We are looking for a new colleague to join us on our quest who has a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years in software testing and test automation for complex desktop systems; proven ability to build frameworks from scratch
- Strong programming skills in C# and Python
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as NUnit, Pytest, and Ranorex
- Experience with desktop UI automation technologies such as FlaUI and Microsoft UI Automation (UIA2/UIA3)
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or similar
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex test and application issues
- Ability to validate engine/solver outputs using tolerances, invariants, and regression baselines
- A proactive mindset with a passion for improving software quality and automation practices
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience working with scientific, engineering, GIS or water modelling software
- Knowledge of water engineering, hydrology, hydraulic modelling, or environmental software domains
- Experience validating numerical models, simulation results, or engineering calculations
- Experience working in large-scale desktop application environments with complex workflows and datasets
- German language skills (B1 or higher)
